Mailbox keys are available and must be requested through Residential Life (see below). Please be aware that roommates share mailboxes. 1st class mail only is distributed to students through their mailboxes. If you seek to have 1st class mail sent to a student and wish to keep it private, utilize a tracking method which would require the item to be signed for at the mailroom’s service window and not placed in the mailbox.

Picking up at package at University Mail Services ?
Storrs campus University Mail Services (UMS) is located at the Central Warehouse (large building behind the University Fire & Police). Approach the building from the side where the loading docks are located. Proceed through the glass doors that are to the left of the loading docks and straight through to UMS.
Their hours are Monday through Friday from 8am to 4pm. Closed weekends and holidays.
Companies are promising same day or next day delivery of items ordered on their websites when residents choose next day or “home delivery” options. This form of delivery will lead the company’s delivery personnel to drop your package somewhere on campus at the front door of a building. These packages are not being delivered through a legitimate mail carrier such as FEDEX, USPS, DHL or UPS and it is very likely it will lead to your parcel being lost. Make sure that you receive a tracking # from one of the following carriers FEDEX, USPS, DHL or UPS when placing an order.
If the University should close due to weather related concerns, the residential mailrooms are closed as well.
University Mail Services (UMS) has been working diligently to process the unprecedented amount of packages that continue to arrive daily to the University. Students will receive an email from their mailroom when a package is available for pick up. Students should expect mild delays in the delivery of their packages for the next couple of weeks.
Location of mailrooms and hours of operation are available on this website.
Please go to https://studentmail.uconn.edu/properly-addressing-packages/ for the proper format in addressing both letter mail and packages being sent to a residential student.
Please remember that you are required to wear a facemask in all University buildings’ public spaces.
When changing room assignments, within 48 hours of your move, please be sure ask the mailroom clerk to cross off your name on your former mailbox and pull any letter mail that might have arrived.
Mail and packages will arrive to your new mailroom (if it changes) upon Housing Services noting in their software that the room change is completed.
Mailroom Package Notifications
